Why gunite for an East Texas backyard

Gunite (sprayed concrete) is the most flexible way to build an in-ground pool. Instead of dropping a pre-made shell into a hole, we form and spray the pool on-site — so the shape, depth, steps, tanning ledges, and spa all get built around your yard rather than the other way around. That matters in East Texas, where lot shapes, slopes, and tree lines are rarely the same twice.

With 22+ years of experience, we handle the full build in-house: design, excavation, steel, gunite, plumbing, plaster or quartz finish, tile, coping, and decking. You deal directly with Dustan from the first walk-through to the first swim.

How the process works

We start with a no-pressure visit to see your yard and listen to what you want. From there we put together a design and an honest quote, walk you through it, and only break ground once you're happy. Timelines depend on design, permits, and East Texas weather — we give you a realistic schedule instead of a promise we can't keep.

Gunite pool construction — frequently asked questions

What is a gunite pool?

Gunite is a sprayed concrete-and-sand mixture applied over a steel framework to form the pool shell on-site. Because it’s built in place rather than dropped in as a pre-made shell, it can be shaped into any design and sized to your exact yard.

Is gunite better than fiberglass or vinyl?

For a true custom pool in East Texas, yes. Gunite builds to any shape and size, handles our clay soils and sloped lots, and can be resurfaced and modernized decades later instead of replaced. Fiberglass is limited to stock shapes and sizes; vinyl liners need periodic replacement.

How long does a gunite pool take to build?

A typical custom gunite build runs several weeks from excavation to first swim, depending on size, design complexity, permits, and weather. We give you a realistic schedule up front.

How much does a gunite pool cost in East Texas?

Most start in the mid five figures and rise with size, finishes, decking, spas, and water features. See our East Texas pool cost guide, then call for a free itemized quote.

How long does a gunite pool last?

A properly built gunite shell can last for decades. The interior finish is refreshed periodically through resurfacing, but the shell itself is built to last.
